If you’re searching for a foot doctor in Lakewood, CA, what you’re looking for is a podiatrist — a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or DPM, a licensed doctor who specializes in conditions of the foot and ankle. “Foot doctor” is just the everyday word for it, and it’s what most of our patients say when they call. Whether your problem started with a run, a long shift on your feet, or a nail that never looked right, it’s worth having someone look at it before you work around it for another season.
Conditions we commonly treat for patients coming from Lakewood:
Heel pain is one of the most common reasons patients come to see us. It’s often plantar fasciitis — that first-step-in-the-morning stab under the heel — but it can also come from the Achilles tendon, a stress injury, or a nerve. Because the treatments differ, the exam matters more than the label.
Bunions tend to develop slowly, and by the time shoes stop fitting, people assume surgery is the only answer. It often isn’t the first step. We look at footwear, mechanics, and how much the joint actually moves before discussing anything surgical.
Diabetic foot care is different from routine foot care. Reduced sensation and circulation mean small problems can develop quietly, so regular checks matter even when nothing hurts. If you have diabetes and notice a sore, a color change, or a wound that isn’t closing, please don’t wait for your next scheduled visit — call us to be seen sooner. If you have signs of infection such as spreading redness, warmth, drainage, or fever, seek medical care right away.
The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons keeps a plain-language library of common foot and ankle conditions if you’d like to read up before your visit.
Burning, tingling, or the feeling of a pebble under the ball of your foot is often a Morton’s neuroma — a thickened nerve between the toes, most often between the third and fourth. It’s one of the more common reasons patients come to us for neuroma treatment, and it tends to feel worse in narrow or hard-soled shoes.
We evaluate it with a hands-on exam and in-office ultrasound. Care usually starts conservatively — footwear changes, padding, custom orthotics, and injections — and surgical options are generally considered only if conservative care hasn’t given enough relief. Nerve pain in the forefoot can also come from other sources, which is why we examine rather than assume.
