Watch Out for Stress Fractures

A stress fracture can be caused by a stressful activity, a fall, or even standing on a hard floor for too long. Pain typically occurs on the top of the foot and symptoms usually pop up quickly. Be aware of signs of a stress fracture, which include swelling, redness, pain, and possible bruising. Seek appropriate care as soon as possible.*

The sooner you begin treatment for your stress fracture, the shorter your recovery time will be. Expect treatment to take four to six weeks, and during this time be sure to rest your foot, and wear a surgical shoe if needed.
