How To Take Care of Calluses

Calluses are tough and thickened skin that results from pressure, irritation, or friction. Calluses on the feet are commonly caused by the way in which someone walks. While in general calluses are not harmful, they can sometimes lead to skin ulcerations or infections, which is why they should be cared for and treated properly.*

Orthotics can correct the way you walk, which will subsequently reduce your risk for developing calluses. While treating current calluses, visit your podiatrist who can properly shave your calluses down every two or three months. Also, be sure to moisturize your feet at home by generously lathering them with cream and covering them with socks for 40 minutes.
