Safety Tips for Hikers

More than 38 million Americans go hiking every year, and that number keeps climbing as the sport’s popularity increases. As more and more people experiment with hiking and take on more challenging terrain, injuries become imminent. Hikers run the risk of heel pain, Achilles tendon injuries, sprains, and fractures.*

Be sure to stretch before and after each hike, and wear shoes that provide good traction. To avoid swelling, it is recommended that for every 2.5 miles you hike, you take a 15 minute break and elevate your feet.
