Painful and Thick Toenails

Whether it’s caused by shoe irritation, an injury, or simply nail neglect, toenails can become thick and painful to groom. One out of 50 people will develop a condition called onychogryphosis, which causes your nail to thicken and curve as a form of protection. Unfortunately, this condition is not only unsightly, (it’s commonly referred to as a Ram’s Horn Nail) it can also make it painful to wear most shoes.*

Reduce your risk of onychogryphosis by inspecting your toenails and trim them as needed; also, be sure to avoid tight shoes. If your toenails do become injured, visit your doctor; his or her professional care can stop things from getting worse.
