Iron Deficiency and Restless Leg Syndrome

Several studies have identified a link between low iron levels and restless leg syndrome (RLS). People with RLS had a significant decrease of their symptoms after taking iron supplements. If you have RLS and an iron deficiency, it is important to discover what is causing your deficiency. Some women may be deficient in iron because of heavy menstruation, or vegetarians could be low in iron because of dietary restrictions.*

Increase your iron intake with iron-rich foods such as liver, red meat, oysters, chickpeas, and soybeans. You can also take an iron supplement. Consider Proferrin ES and bovine ferritin, as they are typically better absorbed than plant-based iron supplements.
