Home Remedies for Heel Pain

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. You might notice it when you take your first step in the morning or when you run, walk, hike or just after a long work day. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the fascia (the long ligament at the base of the foot.) Here are some tips to aid in heel pain: decrease your activity to low intensity, ice massage your arch and heel with a frozen water bottle, try heel lifts to take pressure off the arch, use a night splint to stretch your plantar fascia, get custom orthotics or supportive shoes and remember to STRETCH![1]

Don’t ignore heel pain! If the condition is untreated, small micro-tears can develop that could lead to developing heel spurs or deterioration of the plantar fascia.
