It is important to have good balance because good balance allows you to control and maintain your body’s position whether you are moving or standing still. Balance issues are one of the main reasons that elderly people fall. Falls can lead to debilitating issues, such as hip fractures. Luckily, there are simple exercises that we can all do to improve our balance.*

This exercise strengthens the muscles in your shins, feet, and ankles to improve the balance in your stride. Flex your feet and lift your toes off the ground, balancing on your heels only. Walk forward for as long as you can on just your heels for up to 1 minute.
