Grow Your Brain by Walking

Walking and running generally require the same range of motion, except walking saves your bones and joints from hard impact. Walking can also help grow your brain, according to a study published by the National Academy of Sciences. In the study, participants who took 40-minute walks, three times a week, for one year, grew their hippocampi by 2%, reversing the brain’s aging process by almost 2 years!*

Start a 15-minute walking routine around your neighborhood, and add 5 or 10 minutes as you feel stronger. Be sure to wear supportive shoes, dress comfortably and hydrate before and after your walks.
