Avoid Heavy Shoes

Many of you tend to use heavy shoes when working out because it’s simple, no extra weights and you get the benefit of added resistance. The problem comes from the fact that it IS added resistance. Resistance is used with strength training and when you lift weights you have limits on your repetitions. Taking a run in heavy shoes is like doing “3,000 ankle lifts.” Besides that being a crazy number, your body is not designed to carry that much added weight at the base of your body. Added weight equals added stress, which will create stress injuries. [1]

Avoid heavy shoes and get shoes that fit properly and are light. Don’t add weight; add proper support and you’ll achieve great benefits from your workouts.
