If you have chronic athlete’s foot, then you are at a greater risk of developing fungal toenails. Often, the fungus from athlete’s foot can spread from the skin to the nails. Keep in mind that fungus also lurks in shared showers and pools. You can even contract an infection after an unsafe pedicure.
Yellow, thick, splitting nails can indicate a fungal infection. Ignoring an infection will make things worse, so turn to your doctor for treatment and more preventive advice.
